This participatory drum circle at Decolonise Fest 2025 will introduce attendees to polyrhythms which connect the African continent with the Caribbean and Britain sounding shared histories of migration, decolonial struggle and community building. The drum circle will be led by Ras Happa and assisted by Christopher Oliver. You’re welcome to bring your own drums but Ras Happa can also provide drums. Ras Happa is a master drummer that specialises in traditional Caribbean and African drum rhythms such as the nyahbinghi, the mento, the kumina, the bruckins as well as their relationship to popular dance rhythms found in contemporary music.
