As a part of this exhibition to honour the legendary Poly Styrene 198 Gallery have put together a day of art, music and creation to celebrate her legacy including a gig curated by Decolonise Fest.
1-3pm Punk Songwriting Workshop with Celeste Bell
A songwriter herself, Celeste Bell will lead our punk songwriting workshop! Inspired by the lyrics of Poly Styrene we will spend the afternoon learning, writing, and sharing your creations! FREE
1-3pm Stitch and Bitch with Rita Keegan
In honour of Poly Styrene’s impeccable style and visionary love for recreating and repurposing clothes, participate in a workshop with artist and archivist, Rita Keegan. Bring old clothes and swatches that you want to re-envision into new fashions! Sewing machines and some extra material provided. FREE
3-5pm Poly Styrene Fan Zine Art Lab with Youth (Killing Joke)
Join Youth lead singer from the band Killing Joke in one of his beloved Art Labs, this session focussed on created a Poly Styrene Fan Zine! We will have old news paper clippings, lyrics, images, and drawing materials for you to participate and create a zine inspired by the life and work of Poly Styrene. FREE

6-8pm Poly Styrene Legacy Panel
A very special opportunity to hear a panel of fans, friends, and comrades of Poly Styrene discuss her powerful legacy. Some of the themes will include, her work as a musician, her radical perspectives, her experiences of race, migration, and mixed race Black British identity, and being someone who lived with mental health difficulties. To end the weekender we have a gig curated by South London DIY diaspora punk festival Decolonise Fest! The gig includes three amazing bands that platform feminism, black femmes, and new age punks. Art Trip and the Static Sound, Big Joanie, and Screaming Toenail will close the day to honour the woman that started it all! Tickets: FREE
