For their next event Decolonise Fest is hosting a gig with The Rebel Riot, a Burmese punk band in the country for their UK tour, along with local bands Nekra and Whitelands and food from North London Food Not Bombs
The Rebel Riot:
Rebel Riot is a punk band from Yangon, Myanmar, formed in 2007 after the onset of the Saffron Revolution. During this time in Myanmar many people were protesting against the oppression and corruption of the military system. They wanted to use music as a way to speak about freedom and the errors of the current political system. They’re also responsible for starting Food Not Bombs – Myanmar and Books Not Bombs – Myanmar.
