The Genes deliver genre expanding, narrative-led songs, drenched with hip-hop style basslines, witty jokes, and catchy guitar riffs
What do you get when you mix a South Asian Oasis fan, a funky metal fan and a musician who is obsessed with the Titanic? The answer is The Genes, the creative fusion of confidence, stories and musical genius taking over the indie scene.
The Warwickshire based band, which features Pav Rai on vocals and guitar, Billy Bloomer on bass, and Chris William on drums, formed in 2023 and have since established themselves locally as rising stars. The Genes deliver genre expanding, narrative-led songs, drenched with hip-hop style basslines, witty jokes, and catchy guitar riffs, that showcase frontwoman Pav’s unique take on life. The Genes have played several key venues across Birmingham including The Flapper, Sunflower Lounge and Mama Roux’s. The Genes are currently working on their first EP, due summer 2025; a body of work to introduce the world to The Genes.
