Details on our workshop hosts:
Xana composes music using live-looping with beatboxing, vocal harmonising, instrumentation, archived recordings, and using field recordings from Peckham High Street to sounds of space (electromagnetic vibrations) collected by NASA. She intertwines all of this with poetry and improvisational interactive stories. Xana started live-looping as a way to understand the feeling of being fractured, anxious and challenged and how you find ways to piece yourself together, worried about what fits.

Loraine James is an electronic artist and producer. A master at crafting organic textures through inorganic means, she effortlessly blends Electronica and Math rock with whispers of jazz and post-rock all wrapped up in the artist’s key avant-garde aesthetic and sensibility. Loraine crafts truly breathtaking textures from relatively simple means, armed only with a Macbook, a MIDI Keyboard and Novation Launchpad – she transcends any technological constraints to make anything from ambient off-kilter beats to four to the floor vocal-sample driven techno/house.
